The Joy of your friends having babies

means buying children's fancy dress... how can this not bring anyone joy?

Layo & Bushwacka! Endangered EP - released December on Plus 8

PLUS 8 RECORDS proudly presents

Layo & Bushwacka!
Endangered EP
PLUS8114 12”, WAV, MP3

2010 has seen Plus 8 celebrate its 20 year anniversary with releases coming from some of techno’s finest artists, including Paco Osuna, Marco Carola, Skoozbot, Mike Shannon, Danilo Vigorito, Datasoul and Uto Karem. Now London duo Layo & Bushwacka! join the family with the release of their debut for Richie Hawtin and John Aquaviva’s imprint, with the Endangered EP.

Layo & Bushwacka! are one of electronic music’s most esteemed duos. In just over a decade they have released three artist albums, three mix albums, formed their own label - Olmeto - and have held residencies at several internationally renowned clubs, including their monthly ‘All Night Long’ parties at The End in London, which Layo co-owned with Mr C. Since The End’s closure, Layo & Bushwacka! have been putting on bi-monthly ‘Shake it’ warehouse parties around London, inviting guests including Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Magda and Laurent Garnier to play intimate sets that distinctly capture the raw energy of techno in its formative years.

“We both sat down at the early part of the year to talk about making music in 2010 and what we wanted to do - we felt that for four years we had just made music for Olmeto, and that maybe it was time to do something for another label to give us a different focus; a new litmus test. We then said on this basis, it has to be for Plus8/Minus. And several months later, here is our first EP for Plus 8: Endangered.

We called it the Endangered EP as we are against man's relentless pursuit of profit without conscience and its impact on the natural world. Each track represents an endangered animal and each animal represents the flavour of each track. The listening is up-to you.” Layo & Bushwacka!

Just finished the Strummerville UK tour... was pretty epic! In the City was best gig wise, but fun wise i think that newcastle had it reet off! tres drole. Bristol was ace also (with don letts), glasgow was retarded, Leeds a bit weird but did get to see my mates beero and gavin, so all good there :) There is actually still tomorrow at the flowerpot to go, but that's London so doesn't feel 'on the road'.

so now... i am off to Brixton to see the retro/grade support Groove Armada for the final night of their tour support. very excited! not seen the live with full on visuals yet. will be well good.

Laurent Garnier Live Booth Sessions - Tour 2010

LAURENT GARNIER presents « L.B.S »
European tour starting 21st October 2010

With the "Tales of a Kleptomaniac" tour recently at its finish, Laurent Garnier is going back on the road with a new tour entitled "L.B.S". Read on…

L.B.S - Only three letters but several different meanings: ‘Laurent + Ben + Stephane’/ ‘Live Booth Sessions’ / ‘Loud Bass & Samples’…

This is only the beginning for this new, very club orientated project, which will bring together
Laurent Garnier (DJ & machines), Benjamin Rippert (keyboards) and Stephane "Scan X" Dri (machines), to quite literally create before your eyes and ears.

"After eighteen months on tour with my musicians, I began to realize that I could get as much pleasure from playing live in a festival as I could from DJing in clubs. Whilst on tour, we developed a very open style of playing: interacting, improvising, and expressing ourselves freely, something that I thought I could only achieve through my DJ sets. It was obvious that after a long period spent touring round some of the biggest festivals, I was going to feel an overwhelming desire to go back to my roots (clubs and records), but the idea of finding myself alone behind two decks was impossible. So why not combine the two? Why not play other people’s records alongside my own tracks, played live? Why not put the two together to make one? After more than twenty years spent DJing, I really wanted to take it a step further. Sometimes, when I see other DJs playing out today I get the feeling that they’re bored, that they don’t get off on what they’re doing anymore. It is very clear to me why the idea behind L.B.S came to life because not only will it give my work a new lease of life, it will also offer a new and very different experience to club goers." - Laurent Garnier

Straight out of the DJ booths of some of the best clubs on the planet, L.B.S offers the best of both worlds by combining the versatility and flexibility of the DJ set with the ability to experiment tracks live. Two decks, a Rhodes, several keyboards and machines will be used to create organic improvised four-hour sets guaranteed to work the dance floor.

"I especially want to carry on creating and exploring whether through Djing or playing live. But also, get even closer to the public than we can in a festival. During the live sections of L.B.S I will be developing and fine-tuning new tracks in front of (and with) the crowd to create the live of the future, but also to test out new tracks. We’ll be taking our time, something that isn’t really the done thing nowadays!! One thing is sure, the dance floor never lies… Alongside Benjamin and Scan X I’ll be creating tracks live for my next tour and for my future releases."

In view of the amazing feedback on the net after a couple of "test" dates that L.B.S performed in the spring of 2010, the tour will officially begin at the end of October 2010 with a myriad of dates in Europe. It will continue throughout 2011 around the rest of the world.

This follows on from an 18-month Laurent Garnier tour performing live in festivals all over the world with tracks taken from his album ‘Tales of a Kleptomaniac’, the final date being at the
Grand Palais in Paris on 9th October 2010.

Zombie Nation 'Overshoot' / Squeek' - UKW Records

Press Release
Zombie Nation
Overshoot / Squeek
Released November
UKW Records

Since 1999, Zombie Nation, AKA Florian Senfter, has been melting brains, aided by the sounds of a variety of vintage machines and analog toys, from obscure 70s broadcast mixing desks to re-amped 60s valve radios.

His two long-players – ‘Black Toys’ and ‘Zombielicious’, released in 2006 and 2009 respectively - display the Zombie Nation signature sound to perfection - dirty, funk-fuelled analogue grooves laden with ingenious melodies and other-worldly production techniques, delivered via a plethora of the most aurally orgasmic outboard toys (he likes to play: http://www.youtube.com/user/zombienation1)…

Alongside concocting dynamite sticks in the studio with Tiga – with a new ZZT single forthcoming (already hailed by some as the single of the year), this year he also encouraged facebook fans to send in any sample and sound they chose, from which he created a free track – entitled ‘Minds Of Many’. A collaboration of sorts, the finished version can be found free here: http://www.zombienation.com/ .

Now, Zombie Nation is set to release his first solo effort of 2010. Lead track, Overshoot, mashes up styles and decades: it jacks like Old School Chicago in 1994, but is recorded with technical equipment from 1975. The lyrics sound like a 1983 freestyle record, but most importantly, Overshoot bangs the dancefloor like it’s 2010. And on to b-side, Squeek, which gets rough and tumble but always comes back to the overriding groove. Always in control, sometimes a bit off kilter, energetic but never hysteric - Mr. Zombie keeps us awesomely entertained.

Already supported by Erol Alkan, Boys Noize, A Trak, Annie Mac and Fake Blood to name a few, there are also remixes from DJ Mehdi and Bart B More forthcoming.

As well as DJing the world over, the Zombie Nation Live show is taken to full force - Zombie Nation live is an orchestra of vintage synths and controllers grinding and hollering with a frenetic yet magical touch.
