2011 - 20 Years of Planet-E
A Thank you…

In 2011, Carl Craig’s Detroit based Planet-E imprint celebrated its 20th anniversary of existence. Throughout the year, one of the leading electronic music labels in the history of the genre, took a moment to celebrate and share a bit of its history, before getting back to the business of looking forward to the future…

Carl Craig took Planet-E on tour for the first time ever, holding stages at festivals around the world, and parties in some of the most world-renowned clubs. Guest DJs – friends and family of Planet-E - included Luciano, Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Moodymann, Seth Troxler, Paul Woolford, Kyle Hall and many more. As well as playing live as Trio with Moritz Von Oswald and Francesco Tristano, he also went live under his 69 guise for the first time ever.

Planet-E stepped up the game in releasing music, not only with a ‘Best Of Planet-E album – ‘20 F@#&ING Years - We Ain't Dead Yet’ but also new EPs from the likes of Oliverwho Factory and Ezana Harris, and vinyl / digital remix packages of some of Planet-E’s most desired back catalogue. Artists like Caribou, Luciano, Loco Dice, Dubfire and more chose their favourite Planet-E track to remix and re-release, including Urban Tribe, Recloose Martin Buttrich, Paperclip People and Carl Craig’s very special ‘Sandstorms’ got remixed and re-released.

Carl Craig’s personal highlights include:

“As far as releases are concerned we’ve been able to do some really fantastic music this year it’s great to have artists like Urban Tribe involved to show Planet-E’s diversity but also its legacy of putting out interesting and imaginative music. As well as the newer artists, we’ve released music from like Ezana Harris and Oliverwho Factory, also from Detroit, as well as having remixes from friends and family like Luciano, Caribou, Kirk Del Giorgio, Agoria, Dubfire, Loco Dice and the like.

For the parties, the 69 gigs have been great. I would say Movement in Detroit was a great one, it was also great to host a stage at I Love Techno. Paris was a brilliant show with support from Urban Tribe, to have Kenny Dixon and Richie Hawtin at Extrema Festival was amazing, and Ibiza was great this year, fantastic.

Next year… I plan to focus more on 69 live and will be doing more interesting stuff for next year. And remixes are coming for Friendly Fires, Caribou and some more I don't want to say yet.

Time And Space Machine 'Pill Party India' EP (Tirk)

The Time And Space Machine
‘Pill Party India’
Released: January 2012
Tirk

Taken from Time And Space Machine’s second album ‘Taste The Lazer’ - to be released March 2012 on Tirk

When it comes to being a man of many talents, there are few to equal Richard Norris. DJ, producer, musician, audiovisual artist, A&R man, author and journalist... His is a career of many twists and turns which have always seen him at the forefront of pushing new ideas forward and championing diversity and innovation, be it alongside Erol Alkan as part of The Wizard's Sleeve, or gone solo as the acclaimed Time & Space Machine.

Tirk released Richard’s debut long-player as The Time & Space Machine ‘Set Phazer to Stun’ in 2010. With the long awaited second album imminent, we've decided to do a special little single release of one of our faves to precede, alongside a brace of tasty remixes.

'Pill Party In India' is rich with the energetic twang of Americana, carried down a highway of fast-paced bongos and live drums with interludes of blips, wiggles and ghostly soundtrails. Absolutely stunning.

The first remix comes from our pet love, Psychemagik. It's a supurb bit of work by our friends from the cosmic forest; The bass is chunky, mesmerizing sounds fly at you gloriously in superwide stereo and there's some cracking vocal samples added to great effect too!

To clean up, Mojo Filter delivers his 'Om Nama Shiva Remix.' Think squelching acid basslines under traditional plucked Indian instrumentation, with strings and on-point production values and you're about there. This has to be heard to be believed! A sheer joy!

Colours swirl, patterns collide… it’s time to turn on The Time and Space Machine.

Leo Zero 'Acid Life' (Leo Trax)

Press Release
Leo Zero
Acid life
Leo Trax
Released 30 January 2012

Leo Zero is probably best known for his remixes of global acts like Florence & The Machine, Bryan Ferry & Paul Welller. But prior to this he's spent many years on the underground house scene, running parties, record labels, DJing, and learning the ropes in the studio.

In fact scroll back 20+ years and Leo was there right at the birth of House and Techno... in 1986-87 spending his dinner money on the latest imports from Chicago and Detroit and listening to the first pirate radio shows spawning this brand new sound.

"My mates and I would listen religiously to Jazzy M: 'The Jacking Zone' on LWR... a pirate station we could barely pick up where we lived at the end of the Met tube line in Chesham… you had to try all sorts of ways to get the signal, wiring the radio up to the radiator always worked well ! "

We're talking 1986 here - no internet, no dance music press - House music was evolving out of Boogie and Electro track by track as the sounds got more and more stripped down and futuristic... record shops like Groove, Bluebird, Vinyl Zone and Trax were the only places to buy this stuff, and fanzines like Boy's Own had only just surfaced.

"We were always hunting for the most raw and wild tracks back then - we'd grown up with the electro compilations and DJ culture, and making rudimentary mix tapes - looking back this music was growing up with us - most of the people in the US making it were new to making music themselves, most of the equipment was new - they were just teenagers messing about with drum machines fuelled by passion and energy rather than any musical know how.... a rule book didn't exist, it was just about getting the loudest most futuristic crazy noises out of these beatboxes - I lapped it up - Rhythm is Rhythm, Phuture, Marshall Jefferson, Fingers inc all became heroes - And when Larry Heard, Ron Wilson and Robert Owen's came over to London for the first time to perform live as Fingers inc - I was in the front row - it was a life changing moment for me. My life was all about music from then on."

Two years later, the rest of the country had caught up, Acid House had kicked in, and Leo found himself in Ibiza right in the thick of it all. Cafe Del Mar, Amnesia, Ku, Es Paradis, Glory's, Exstasis, Summum, Angels and a newly opened Space all sowed the seeds for a decade club promoting back in London and all over the world with the legendary Faith and Soulsonic parties, the latter of which saw him host throwdowns for Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen.

Around this time Leo also made his first auspicious waves in the production world, turning heads with his disco edit label Easter Bay, which counted DJ Harvey and Idjut Boys as fans. Leo has since gone on to form Dab Hands with Mark Wilkinson and Richard Searle in 2004, with the trio remixing Lou Reed and David Bowie’s “Satellite of Love” which gave them a top ten smash and a Miami buzz chart no.1. He’s also flexed his musical muscle as a member of psychedelic band A Mountain of One, writing and producing their first album ‘Collected Works’ in 2007.

Leo’s talent hasn’t ever been confined to music, either. He’s been involved in flyer/sleeve art for most of his natural life having worked with Junior Boys Own, Heavenly Records, Electric Stew, Dazed & Confused and Time Out. He has also exhibited at Jam at the Barbican and helped put together books on flyers for Thames & Hudson, among others.

So fast forward to today and Leo's many hours of flying time in various nighteries the world over have given him an instinctive idea of what makes a dancefloor kick. He now has his own boutique label Leo Trax and the first major release is Acid Life - a raw stripped down album made with old friend and Junior Boy's Own / Classic recordings singer Marcel - together they've stuck to what they know and love - good old fashioned house and techno in the traditional Chicago / Detroit style.

Eclectic is a word often used, but not always used in the right context. When referring to Leo Zero aka Leo Elstob ‘Eclectic’ he certainly is – from House to Disco – Boogie to Balearic via, Punk/Funk, and Mash-Up - Leo excels in all areas.

Luca C and Brigante 'Invisible Cities' (Southern Fried)

Luca C & Brigante present...Invisible Cities
Label: Southern Fried Released: January 2012
Distribution: PIAS Cat no: ECB283 www.southernfriedrecords.com

Fresh from their smash club record ‘Different Morals':

Luca C & Brigante are back on Southern Fried Records to present ‘Invisible Cities’, a mesmerizing tide of Balearic disco pop that nestles somewhere between the shoreline and the cosmos.

Comprising six original tracks with collaborations and glowing vocal appearances from partner in crime Ali Love, Zeben Jameson from A Mountain Of One and Findlay Brown, ‘Invisible Cities’ took shape in a haze of romanticism and analog paraphernalia. Recorded while marooned on the White Isle last summer, the collection perfectly embodies the art of undulating psychedelia and the dreamy Balearic sound - soothing soundscapes of drifting island grooves, bathed in melancholia, scattered with cosmic dust and unfolding tales of strays in love.

Versatile Italian (London-based) duo Luca Cazal and Sebastiano Properzi aka Luca C & Brigante are on their way to owning this sound. From echoes of breaking waves, ‘The Beach’ builds into a Fleetwood Mac-esque love song full of expansive melodies, laid-back grooves and the ever-intoxicating voice of Mr. Ali Love. ‘On A Star’, where Ali also features, continues in the vein of a romantic’s oblivion with a soft-focus folk sensibility. The fluid strumming motion of ‘Time’, featuring the retro-pop singer Findlay Brown, is delightful in its simplicity and the tropical ‘Sunrise’ works as a fuzzy, scenic soundtrack to an island at dawn.

‘Morning Sun’ features the vocals of Zeben Jameson, who infuses the sparkling instrumentals with his burning tale of loss and renewal. Luca C himself sings final track ‘Space Lullaby’ - a floating odyssey of dream-like atmospheres, oscillating synths, rising strings and melodies that rock beside a beating heart.

Crookers 'Dr. Gonzo' (Southern Fried)

Crookers 'Dr. Gonzo'
Southern Fried
New album released January 2012 (release date excl UK, Italy, USA, Australia)

Let’s talk about the new Crookers album, “Dr. Gonzo”. Phra and Bot (Crookers) describe it with the Italian word “accrocchio,” that in English can be translated as a “kludge". A kludge is a quick-and-dirty solution, a clumsy, yet effective, way to solve a problem, using parts that are cobbled together. This new album is a combination of completely unrelated and random ideas that came together to produce a different kind of dance music. Just as one might expect, the barrier to a new sound has been broken on Planet Crookers.

Dr.Gonzo has it all. The usual suspects are there: house, hip hop and techno, but they are infused with dance hall, Middle Eastern music, steel drums, classic hardcore squeal, whiny violins filtered through synths, and a clear reference to early 90’s euro dance creates something unexpected.

“Hummus” a track that wonderfully encapsulates the collaboration of Crookers, Hudson Mohawke and Carli (Savage Skulls) is an unusual tribute to the best beach bangers in the history of music. Imagine “Show me Love” if Robin S were a schizo.

Then, another psychotic track, “Bust ‘Em Up” (feat. Savage Skulls), that together with “Springer” (feat, Neoteric & Wax Motif), exemplifies what Robin Murray recently wrote in Clash, “the latest release from the Crookers has a cartoon-like energy which is difficult not to be hooked by.” Try to resist-you’ll find yourself a sweaty but happy loser.

The core of the Crookers club music philosophy is again the base of this album: a good dance track should be as fun to listen to as it was to produce (there’s no better example than “That Laughin Track” feat. Style of Eye & Carli). This is club music that takes risks, and the result pays off in a big way. Infact, the Crookers’ blasphemous structures have won the respect of some of the most influential personalities in modern electronic music: Annie Mac, Sinden, Annie (the legendary Nightingale), Greg James, Huw Stephens, Rob Da Bank, Jaymo & Andy George, Andi Durrant and Eddy Temple-Morris, among others.

Dr. Gonzo features some distinguished collaborations: Carli and the Savage Skulls, two of the best producers of the Italian scene a.k.a. His Majesty Andre and Lazy Ants, the French Bobmo and the Scottish Hudson Mohawke, along with many others. In particular, the collaboration with Hudson came from his surprise with people crowd-surfing at his sets when he would play “Dr. Gonzo Anthem” a well-tested “Crookers effect” that has been proven true at their concerts around the world.

William Faulkner, one of the greatest writers of all time, said, “Read, read, read. Read everything-trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. [...] Then write. If it is good, you'll find out. If it's not, throw it out the window.” If you substitute “read” with “listen” that’s exactly what Crookers have done with Gonzo and the result is not just “good”, but "VERY good". Enjoy the album. Listen to it, play it to your friends, and if you don’t like it, throw it out the window, there will be plenty of people ready to catch it just like a wedding bouquet.

Return To The Future launches to up the game in the warehouse party scene. Two cosmic rave specialists – Poundtown and Will H – have been regular heads in the east London club scene for over a decade; promoting parties Nightflight and Private at the beginning of the Shoreditch party scene and were integrally involved in the development of some of the best warehouse parties in the early east London scene – including the early Secretsundaze and mulletover raves and more recently the Hot Natured parties. In addition there’s Pounds producing of various festival stages around the world. Encouraged by close mates Jamie Jones, Lee Foss and Seth Troxler’s Vision Quest crew, the duo have decided it’s time to do their own party and use their experience and contacts to bring something very special to the table…

Friday December 16th is the launch date, with the first party held at The Print House in Hackney Down Studios. Our Canadian friends, Art Department, whose debut album ‘The Drawing Board’ was released early 2011 on Crosstown Rebels, are to headline, bringing their unique blend of tech funk with support from the underground deep techno sounds of Supplement Facts’ Bill Patrick. Adding more weight to the launch is rising talent Alexis Raphael, whose recent releases and Crèche parties have been taking the summer party scene by storm. There is an exclusive mix from Luca that can be found on our soundcloud page (http://soundcloud.com/returntothe-future/luca-c-rtf-mix )

“We want to bring something a bit more refined and intimate to what are generally dark, stark and not particularly comfortable events. Cutting edge with comfort replaces the usual warehouse blueprint. The sounds will be the finest in deep electronic; mixing the new skool DJs and Producers with some of the more established. Watch out for high-end production, lasers and lighting installations, as well as loads of goodies to transform the venue into something beyond four concrete walls and pumping beats. A festive rave for the diary. This will be a night not to be missed, or forgotten… x” - Poundtown

The last Shake It of 2011 is upon us!

An amazing year that has seen the likes of Carl Cox, Magda, Reboot, Damian Lazarus, Art Department, Josh Wink, Nina Kravitz, Gaiser, James Holden, Audiofly, Marco Carola, Yousef, Clive Henry and many more work the decks at Shake It, ends with another unmissable night with Layo & Bushwacka! Alongside this, he has performed trio shows with Moritz Von Oswald and Francesco Tristano - including ADE and La Gaite Lyrique in Paris - but he's not stopping there. 2012 will be solely focused on his 69 live show, performing a selection of the finest 69 classic releases, infused with masks, darkness and 'retina popping' visuals to stimulate all senses. Planet-E is shortly to release vinyl compilation '20 Fucking Years Of Planet E - We Ain't Dead Yet' in an exclusive box set.

Friendly Fires' love of electronic music is well documented and the band are delighted to be curating this unique event alongside Carl Craig, who also continues the tradition of brilliant Friendly Fires remixes with his version of 'Show Me Lights', which will be debuted on the night. The band have just returned from a extensive tour of the USA, following show-stealing appearances at festivals across the globe. Now back in the UK for their November tour, their biggest to date, which will see the band performing to 36,000 people over thirteen nights, culminating in three consecutive nights at London's 5000 capacity Brixton Academy.

The Boiler Room is a weekly online Ustream broadcast, whereby clubbers are able to experience sets from their favorite DJs in the comfort of their living room. Since it's first incarnation, literally in a boiler room in Hackney, it has grown to become the go-to place for the very cutting edge in electronic music - whether you're lucky enough to be there in person, or logging in from anywhere in the world, the boiler room remains one of the finest communities and shared musical experiences available today. Past shows have seen the likes of Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler, Diplo, James Blake and Radiohead streamed to thousands of people.

It’s that time of year where Strummerville present some of the fine talent they have been supporting. Strummerville’s bi-annual new music showcases are always highlight events for your musical calendar. Following from a sell-out show with Frank Turner headlining in the spring, Strummerville are very excited to invite Kai Fish (of the Mystery Jets) to headline the Strummerville winter sessions on Saturday November 26th, alongside some excellent new bands to warm your ears for the first time…

“For our winter sessions we are thrilled to have Kai Fish and The Light headlining proceedings. Kai's new album has been one of our favourites here at Strummerville HQ, so we're honoured he's going to come and play down at the yard for us.” - Strummerville

Anyone who has ever been to a Strummerville campfire or previous Strummerville Sessions, will know that at every Strummerville event, there is a unique energy unlike any other. Strummerville’s attitude for events is great music mixed with great people – on stage and off - pure and simple. For this special event, Strummerville are putting up a big top circus tent at the Strummerville yard (the best location ever, as you will see!), with live music from 4pm until the early hours.

“Strummerville's work to help young people find their voice through music is brilliant and it’s an honour to be asked to play their winter party. As well as this I met my wife at the Strummerville campfire a couple of years ago at Glastonbury... There's no doubting the magic it shares!” – Kai Fish

“If you’ve never been to a Strummerville show before, I can honestly tell you that you’re missing something spectacular.” (Glasswerks event review:

Forever Strummer

Hello Dear Friends of Strummerville,

Excited to let you know that we have just announced our FOREVER STRUMMER Calendar for next year which will mark the 10th anniversary of Joe's passing.

The Calendar includes some previously un-seen images and hand-written artifacts from Joe's personal archive along with some of his wonderful words of wisdom and hope.

It's been such a pleasure to put this together and we hope its something that people will treasure.

Due to so many requests we are making Joe's last hand painted Christmas card available again alongside a new design which is a truly beautiful Bob Gruen shot of Joe in the snow, giving some money to a homeless person on the street. Bob said "I never saw Joe pass a needy or homeless person without giving them something" and i guess this shot just captures this in action.

The calendar and Christmas cards are available now for pre-order from our website and will begin to ship on 11.11.11 ~ they can be ordered directly from here →
http://www.strummerville.com/forever-strummer/

Obviously, your support as always is much appreciated and by buying our "stuff" you help us to continue our work.

We are currently working on plans for a Strummerville space in Detroit so watch this space for news of that...

Tim Deluxe – ‘Transformation’ EP (Get Human)

Press Release
Tim Deluxe – ‘Transformation’ EP
1. Transformation
2. Horizon (New Day) Feat. Ben Onono
3. Lucid Dreams
4.Horizon (New Day) Dub Feat. Ben Onono

Released : 28 November 2011
Get Human - www.gethuman.info

Tim Deluxe launches his own label ‘Get Human’, now the sole outlet for Deluxe’s own productions, with the focus on the label aimed for musical compositions as opposed to throw away loop based tracks.

The first release on the label is the ‘Transformation’ EP – a four track EP, the title track of which – a piano laden dance floor destroyer - is already hyped with big support from Radio Slave, DJ Hell (for which he said ‘Transformation’ is “a masterpiece”), Nic Fanciulli, Carl Cox, Darren Emerson and X-Press 2. Also featuring on the EP is ‘Horizon’ (Original and Dub) – a sentiment written about the tragic events in Japan, on which Ben Onono’s vocals reflect a motion of hope and change, and ‘Lucid Dreams’, a trippy soundscape as the title would depict…

“I feel we are in strange times, (we) humans are almost becoming robotic. Get Human is a reaction to this. The aim will be for me to focus on the musicality of my productions at a deeper level. The emphasis will be on melodies, arrangement, textures and scales, hopefully resulting in music that will stand the test of time a bit more. The emphasis of the label will be on my solo work with an aim to convey artistic freedom, quality and integrity, alongside good old fashioned human frailty.” - Tim Deluxe

From the now classic, garage stormer ‘Rip Groove’ (under the guise Double 99), to the seamless ‘Sirens/We All Love Sax’, to his Latin inspired, house monster: ‘It Just Won’t Do’, to the jumped-up ‘Let The Beats Roll’, to the deep techno builder ‘Espoo’s Rose’ ,or his recent collaborations with X-Press 2 - Tim Deluxe’s productions are renowned for quality, diversity and above all, making dance floors move. His remixes including Layo & Bushwacka’s ‘Love Story’, Basement Jaxx, GusGus,Alter Ego,Tomas Anderson,Booka Shade and his bootleg of the White Stripes have all added testament to this.

Remixes of ‘Transformation’ from Radio Slave and DJ Hell, will follow in early 2012.
‘Transformation’ EP is dedicated to the people of Japan with all proceeds going to Japanese Red Cross Society for the tragic events of 11th March 2011.

Forever Strummer - Joe Strummer 2012 calendar & Christmas

‘FOREVER STRUMMER’

Joe Strummer 10th Anniversary calendar

Joe Strummer 2011 Christmas cards

Strummerville are releasing a 10th anniversary Joe Strummer calendar for 2012. Marking 10 years since Joe Strummer's passing, the calendar will include 12 months of Strummer's most inspirational quotes, previously un-seen images and hand-written artifacts from his personal archive; some that have never been seen…

“ The Future Is Unwritten”

“The way you get a better world is, you don’t put up with sub-standard anything”

“Ignore Alien orders”

“Be mythic and prolific”

“If not I then who”

“Punk Rock means exemplary manners to your fellow human beings”

“People can change anything they want to, and that means everything in the world”

“Everybody has a story to tell”

“Without people you're nothing”

“Everyone has got to realize that you can’t hold on to the past if you want any future. Each second should lead to the next one.”

"We are very excited to present this calendar as our first offering for Joe's 10th anniversary next year. It’s interesting how even ten years after Joe's passing some of his words of wisdom are more pertinent now than ever before and we hope that this is reflected in the calendar and that it will be celebrated by Strummer fans around the world" - Strummerville

Strummerville will also be releasing two Joe Strummer Christmas cards this year. One is Joe's last hand-drawn Christmas card (Strummer would send hand-drawn Christmas cards to his close friends every year) and one is an as yet unseen photo of Strummer, taken by Bob Gruen in New York, when Joe was giving money to a homeless person.

"I never saw Joe pass a needy or homeless person without giving them something" – Bob Gruen

The Joe Strummer 2012 calendar and this year’s Christmas cards and will be available for purchase from 11.11.11

All proceeds from the calendars and Christmas cards will go to the Joe Strummer New Music Foundation: www.strummerville.com

French music protégée, Mondkopf, will perform the debut London live show of his album ‘Rising Doom’, at XOYO on 18th November.

Inspired by post-punk, black metal and with the music of Aphex Twin and Autechre always in his head, Mondkopf displays an energy du force like no other. Playing dark, almost Gothic, electronica intertwined with beautiful melodies and beats so heavy they pound deep into your soul; creating a sonic journey to the beautiful darkside.

From darkness to light, Mondkopf is heavily influenced by the cinematic experience. For his Live show he has merged sound and vision, collaborating with multimedia design agency, Trafik, to conceive a show for both the ears and eyes; black and white tension immerses, igniting the sensation of raves, exorcism and a mystical experience…

With a truly unique new album, his sensory defying live show, a sound that connects to electronica, indie, dub-step, rave and hip-hop sensibilities, Mondkopf ignites an ever growing fascination.

The tension rises… Rising Doom.

Taking place on the 12th of November, this year’s I Love Techno is held at the Flanders Expo in Ghent and as ever is expected to attract some 35,000 people across 5 rooms making it Europe's leading indoor dance event. CASSIUS ON THEIR MIX:

When Stefaan "Dr. Lektroluv" called us to ask if we would be up to mix the next "I Love Techno" cd we have to admit that we were super proud and very happy...
We've played "I Love Techno" two times in the past and loved it each time...
Also to be truly honest we both really love techno music.
After numerous hickups due to our hectic and messy way of working, way of mixing, and some mono vs stereo problems, we finally recorded this mix in Ibiza in a straight old-school "live and direct" mode.
Boombass hitting his faithful MPC sampler and myself in front of our beloved "3 turntables and a mixer" setup.
This mix is direct, it’s a no-brainer, there’s no strategy, it’s nothing but us digging in our record crate without preparation, to keep the ultimate risky improvisation feeling that we always preferred above everything.
Basically it was recorded in one take, that we only had to edit to take some time off, as we're so old-school we don't even have a watch.
We dedicate this mix to our brother DJ Mehdi, the sun child who left us for another world.
We love you bro and we miss you so much."
Philippe and Hubert aka Zdar and Boombass aka Cassius

CASSIUS BIO:

Cassius in 2011 is the same Cassius as the one of 1999 when the hit single "Cassius 99" took the world by storm in the defining year of the introduction of french electronic music to the planet.
Cassius' Zdar & Boombass, two best friends from Paris have never stopped. Taking time to deliver high risk albums & singles, and more than anything, never falling into the comfort zone.
They gave us a short but great list of singles and albums until coming back in 2011 with the special hit for girls, "I <3 U So", taken from their The Rawkers E.P. out on Ed Banger Records.
Since "Cassius 99" we could dance, think, talk, travel, make love, swim, drive, live, grow old, eat, take showers, wake up, jump up, smoke, sleep or drink to tracks like :
" MY FEELING FOR YOU "
" LA MOUCHE "
" THE SOUND OF VIOLENCE " (FEEL LIKE I WANNA BE INSIDE OF YOU WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN)
" THRILLA " FEAT GHOST FACE KILLA
" I'M A WOMAN " FEAT JOCELYN BROWN
" HI WATER " AND " EYE WATER " FEAT PHARRELL WILLIAMS
" TOOP TOOP "
" ROCK #1 "
" SEE ME NOW "
" YOUTH SPEED TROUBLE CIGARETTES "
And numerous adventurous songs dispatched on their three albums : 1999, Au Rêve, and 15 Again.

During all this time they did not fail to keep on playing all over the world their raunchy, dirty, sweaty super sexy House music or killing their appetite for djing just by being rare, choosing good gigs and playing at small clubs as well as big festivals.
They love to keep it simple, always preferring to live their high life of great dinners, super friendships, tasty wines and family entertainment in their beloved city of Paris or traveling to dream destinations like their sacred spot in the North of Ibiza, a secret island in the sun or an Alps ski resort where they go fast up to down on whatever slip on snow.
They also keep it real by helping bands to make their records as Zdar has become a mixer and a producer "extraordinaire" for lots of bands around the world. Above everything always choosing projects carefully, to give 100% of what he has. Since his studio (the already famous "Motorbass Recording Studio" ) was refurbished two years ago he has won a Grammy for the production of the super successful fourth album of Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, he also finished producing the up to come in September fantastic new album of The Rapture, as well as the one of the super great French band, Housse de Racket. The next one to come is an album by a new English artist going by the name of Kindness, who should please people and change the way music is sometimes un-respected. In the meantime, he has also mixed a lot of songs for the likes of Chromeo, Bumblebeez, Kele, and lately, some secret big American artists. Finishing with his dream becoming reality, he was called by his all time heros, The Beastie Boys, to help them finish their already n#1 iTunes / n#2 US Billboard new album - The Hot Sauce Community Part 2.
Boombass has kept on doing remixes and beats, playing records and becoming a better beat maker and DJ everyday. He's kept the Cassius' team ready to roll while staying super hot, ready for June where they get reunited together in the studio to give a follow up of those adventures of two French kids who have become men without ever loosing either their friendship, their sense of humour or their taste for sweat, without compromising any second.
Cassius in the house !

Sandstorms

isn't this just beautiful..

Carl Craig 'Just Another Day' - remastered

Carl Craig
Just Another Day - Remastered
1. Twilight (Original mix)
2. Darkness (Original mix)
3. Sandstorms (Original mix)
4. Experimento (Original mix)
5. Sandstorms (C2 2011 Version)

Out now on Planet-E (Digital only)

Carl Craig’s ‘Just Another Day' EP was originally released in 2004, with ‘Twilight’, ‘Sandstorms’ and ‘Darkness’ all going to become instant classics.

This re-mastered version contains a new version of ‘Sandstorms’, in
addition to the original.

“To me, one interesting and sadly ironic thing about the release is that the cut 'Sandstorms' is about the second Gulf War. I say ironic because seven years later, we're still at war in the region with no true end in sight. Also, if you look closely at the cover artwork, you'll notice it also follows the theme of warfare. Each track sets a very distinct emotional tone. It starts out very high and even hopeful with ‘Twilight’, then descends into deeper, more morose feelings with ‘Sandstorms’ and ‘Darkness’, until it ends in sheer insanity/chaos with ‘Experimento’. You could say it mirrors the history of this country or even the city of Detroit. I'm not sure if that's what Carl intended but as a listener, this is how I interpret it.” – Monty Luke (Planet-E label manager)
