Dale
Howard – ‘Rhymes365’ EP
1) Rhymes365
2) Hot Mess
3) Dig It
Release: 31/03/14
Label: Underground Audio
Dale Howard is rapidly
ascending the ranks of the underground, deftly making the transition from ‘rising
star’ to ‘one of house music’s hottest properties’. A cursory glance at his
hectic release schedule serves as a testament to this, with recent output alongside
the likes of Noir, Get Physical and Gruuv to name a few.
The ‘Rhymes365’ EP
is a no-nonsense volley of house jackers with undeniable dancefloor appeal. The
title track lures the listener in with warm shimmering chords, which give way
to a bassline of tectonic proportions and addictive New Jersey-esque organ
stabs.
‘Hot Mess’ continues
this winning formula, with a tight garage shuffle and chopped snatches of diva vox,
dropping into a thunderous groove, which hits right between the eyes. ‘Dig It’ is
centered around an alluring male vocal sample slathered in reverb and delay, to
create a hypnotic juxtaposition to the raw chunky drums which sit underneath.
