Dan Ghenacia - Ometeo EP (Apollonia)
Label: Apollonia
Artist: Dan Ghenacia
Cat# APO011
Distribution: Syncrophone
Vinyl Released: December 2013
Tracklist:
1. Dan Ghenacia – Ometeo (Original Mix)
2. Dan Ghenacia – Ometeo (DyedSoundorom Remix)
As Apollonia surpasses it’s 10th release and you take a breath to look back on the first two years of the label’s meteoric life, there’s no denying the unstoppable Parisian-born imprint is going from strength to strength. Having just repressed ‘Need Ur Love’, the Callisto classic that is an influential memory from Apollonia’s roots, Dan Ghenacia brings us up to the present day with the forthcoming EP.
Having spent the summer season in the musical hub of Ibiza, Ghenacia’s heightened creativity lead him to turn his hand once again to production. Finishing the track just in time for Dyed Soundorom’s birthday, his beats brother took the liberty of testing out the track during his annual celebratory marathon set. ‘Ometeo’ featured no less than four times throughout the Ibizian all day/all night proceedings and immediately became a firm favourite of Soundorom. So much so that he insisted on its release on Apollonia, and added a personal remix of his own.
Now spending more and more time in Berlin, home to two-thirds of the trio and to work together on an LP, there’s a definite shift in the sound nodding to something a little darker, a little weirder. ‘Ometeo’ asserts itself with a strong paced clap, accompanied by low pitched electronic rippling and intergalactic robotic voices. Slowly and subtly building up, it moves through human chatterings, insect callings and more, until at its most dynamic moment enter the hip-shaking maracas!
Remix master Soundorom gives the late night joint a total overhaul to produce a peak time dancefloor bomb. Introducing a driving kick to pick up the energy, the warm, deep synths remind us of the typical Apollonia sound, as do the sexy, primarily female vocals which reoccur throughout the piece. Together a two track package that will without a doubt propel the French trio even further into the stratosphere.

Oliver Huntemann presents 5ünf – Five Years Ideal Audio compilation and tour
PRESS RELEASE
Released: December, 2013
Label: Ideal Audio
It is now five proud years since Oliver Huntemann, together with his
long-term business partner Jan Langer, founded Ideal Audio. To celebrate the
occasion, the label is heading out on a worldwide tour from September onwards, and
is releasing a double CD compilation of brand-new exclusive material alongside
the most memorable classics from the label’s roster.
Since 2008 and release 001 from Oliver Huntemann & Dubfire, the
label has grown into one of the foremost techno outlets in the world, with a
wide and deep fan base across the globe. Ideal Audio has also spawned countless
label parties, fruitful collaborations and many EP, LP and mix compilation
releases from plenty of exciting talents.
“Here we are, five
years richer in experience and still as loud as ever,” says Oliver on the
anniversary. “Some new and promising acts in the form of dubspeeka from
Bristol, Remain & Electric Rescue from Paris, and Soel & Jonni Darkko
from Rome have recently joined the ranks, breathing new life into Ideal. For me
personally, it is still a great pleasure to work on and with electronic music
and the crazy party circus every day. I look forward to the next five years!”
The worldwide 5ünf Tour, running from September 2013 until March 2014,
features key label associates Oliver Huntemann, André Winter, dubspeeka, Joran
Van Pol, Remain & Electric Rescue, Andreas Henneberg, The Glitz and more,
details will be announced in the coming days.
And so to the 5ünf compilation: Across two discs and 25 tracks it
showcases the Ideal Audio style, which in the past has been described as
"dark, hypnotic and powerful..." The compilation spans the last five
years – with new and exclusive cuts on disc 1, and classics on disc 2 - and
proves that Oliver and Jan have done a great job evolving the label whilst
always staying true to their roots in exciting techno. A fine retrospective at
the same time as being focussed on the next five years, the 5ünf Tour and
Compilation prove Ideal Audio to be one of the most assured labels of our time.

Cristoph - Shelter EP (Underground Audio)
PRESS RELEASE
Cristoph ‘Shelter’ EP
1: Shelter
2: Purvy
3: Tell Me
4: Move On
Release: November 18 2013
Label: Underground Audio
On the back of a stunning EP for Defected’s sister
label DFTD, emerging UK artist Cristoph takes it up a notch with his ‘Shelter’
EP, the double-thick 4-tracker prime and ready to smack the dancefloor right
between the eyes.
London, Bristol and Manchester may be famed
for their iconic dance scenes, but the UK’s north-east continues to be a hotbed
for unearthing exciting electronic music talent.
One artist adding to the vibrant growing
scene around the Tyneside, in Cristoph. Although active in his native Newcastle
and beyond, with key gigs in iconic Geordie hotspots such as Digital and Loop,
including a support slot alongside Waze & Odyssey that still gets spoken
about till this day, it’s his slowly growing arsenal of heavy-hitting house
cuts, that’s causing a torrent of support from the industry’s most respected
artists.
Just released on hyped sub-label of
Defected DFTD (that recently issued cuts from Guti, among others) his ‘Guffaz’
EP has been causing a stir across dancefloor in Ibiza and beyond, with early
support from Steve Lawler, who’s been smashing it at his VIVa Warrios residency
at Sankeys Ibiza, along with Hot Since 82, Catz ‘N Dogs and highly rated rising
stars Dale Howard, DeMarzo and Him_Self_Her.
His versatility as a producer also bore a
remix of hip hop outfit Big Beat Bronson’s ‘New Me’ which B-Traits picked up
and played on her BBC Radio 1 show, proving Cristoph’s skills extend beyond club-moving
beats.
His piece-de-la-resistance however, is his
latest EP ‘Shelter’ due for release on Underground Audio, the home label of the
likes of the hugely touted Finnebassen and recent BBC Radio 1 ‘Future Star’
DeMarzo.
The four-track collection oozes class
rarely seen from an artist so fresh on the scene. The title track ‘Shelter’
hits hard with thudding kicks and bass that build towards a heavy drum workout
interchanged with dynamic vocal and synth drops that keep the energy flowing
throughout, before steamrolling towards a pumping finish.
‘Purvy’ is driven by lashing of low-slung
bass, yearning vocals and funky claps and takes the EP in an undeniable
groove-smacked ‘90s house direction with delightful, grin-inducing results.
‘Tell Me’ is the most intricate of the
quartet; deep with understated tribal undertones, it shines of Cristoph’s
versatility as a producer, as rolling murky sonics percolate underneath layers
of bass and whispered vox, which drop into a melody-laded tech house workout
more intent on building atmosphere than busting any dancefloor bollocks.
The EP is rounded out by ‘Move on’, a cut
that will have you swaying uncontrollably from foot-to-foot with its
funky-as-hell bassline, persistent drums and cleverly programmed creeping synth
melody that builds to a club-smashing crescendo as the track does exactly what
it promises on tin. Outstanding.

Heiko Laux - Lucho EP (Ovum Recordings)
Press
Release
‘Lucho Part 1 & 2’ EP by
Heiko Laux & Alexander Lukat
Release date: 28/10/13
Ovum Recordings
1 – Lucho Part 1
2 – Lucho Part 2
Without pausing for breath, Heiko follows
up last week’s ‘Canis Major’ EP with another double whammy, this time alongside
Alexander Lukat.
In Part 1, Laux and Lukat expertly
cultivate a dank aura of
seismic dread, dominated by a thunderous
low-end which thrums beneath the surface like a beast from the deep. A dense
latticework of hi-hats and backbeats whir and converge amongst each other,
whilst pressure valves burst and hiss in the background.
Part 2 flips the vibe on its head and invokes
the ghost of rave to create a punishing techno workout that bristles with spectral
hoover-like salvos, and an ongoing volley of classic chord stabs.
